CEBU, Philippines — After evading law enforcement for years, Davao del Norte’s most wanted man was apprehended Thursday night in Nivel Hills, Barangay Busay, Cebu City.

The suspect was identified as Melvin Gabito, 34, a native of Davao del Norte who is currently residing in Barangay Busay, Cebu City.

Gabito is facing multiple charges including frustrated parricide, murder, and homicide.

The warrant of arrest was issued against him last August 26, 2021 by Judge Arlene Lirag Palabrica who recommended no bail.

Gabito was arrested after a tip from a concerned citizen that same day.

A joint operation was carried out through the cooperation of Mabolo Police Station 4, Santo Tomas Municipal Police Station in Davao del Norte, Regional Intelligence Division 11, Metro Cebu CIT-Regional Intelligence Unit 7, Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Unit, and 2nd Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company under the supervision of Police Colonel Alexander Serrano.

As of this writing, Gabito was transferred to the custody of the Davao police to face the charges against him.

“Ang filing unit ana niya sa pikas munisipyo pa pero di man siya naka-address sa amoa (Santo Tomas Municipal Police Station, Davao del Norte)... karon amo pang i-kuan (lihokon) once maabot mi,” said Police Staff Sergeant Michael Lacaba, the warrant server of the Santo Tomas Davao del Norte Police Station. — (FREEMAN)
