CEBU, Philippines — Operatives of Talisay City Police Station arrested an alleged drug pusher Tuesday evening, June 11, 2024, during a buy-busy operation at Sitio Sawsawan, Barangay San Roque, Talisay City.
Police identified the suspect as Niceforo Abad, alias Poro, a native of Barili, Cebu. Seized from the suspects were 15 grams of shabu worth P102,000 and several unregistered firearms—three 9mm pistols; two .38 revolvers; and .22 revolver.
“Ang modus nito pag may bumili sa kanya ng drugs pweding ipalit ang pusil ba ang pusil na naiipon nya binibinta nya rin,” said Police Lt. Col. Epraem Paguyod, Talisay City Police chief.
Paguyod said the operation stemmed from information they received about the illegal drug business of the suspect. He said after the information was validated, a buy-bust operation was hatched resulting in the arrest of the suspect.
All firearms seized from Abad were submitted for forensic examination to determine if these were used to commit crimes.
“Yung mga baril nga nakuha natin sa kanya i-submit natin sa forensic group for further examination,” Paguyod said.
A cross matching will be done to check if these guns were used in previous shooting incidents in the city. Abad is now detained at the Talisay City Police Station custodial facility while criminal complaints for violation of Sec. 32 and Sec. 28, Article V of RA 10591 and Violation of Sec. 11, Art. II of RA 9165 are being prepared for filing before the prosecutor’s office. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
