CEBU, Philippines — Another batch of PNP personnel graduated during a ceremony held at the Police Regional Office-7 Hinirang Hall, PC Hills Compound, Cebu City, after they completed the specialized training for police investigators where they were taught the basics of criminal investigation.

Fifty 50 police and non-uniformed personnel from different cities and provincial police offices including 47 Police Non-Commissioned Officers, one non-uniformed personnel, and two civilian agents of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency-7 completed the Criminal Investigation Course (CIC) training that began last March 27.

The course is designed to increase the investigative capabilities of police investigators, develop a better relationship between the police and the community, and develop the attitude and commitment of the PNP to implement its mandate effectively.

Police Colonel Noel Flores, Deputy Regional Director for Operations and chairman of the Investigative Training Committee attended the closing ceremony of the CIC class where police officers were recognized for their achievements.

Also present during the ceremony were Police Colonels Maribel Getigan, Antonietto Cañete, and Rev. Fr. Joselito Borja, also the regional pastoral officer and course director. There were also Police Lieutenant Colonels Richard Oliver, course coordinator/chief training, and Joero Baricuatro of the Regional Special Training Unit-7.

In his message, PRO-7 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin shared thoughts from a famous Irish statesman and poet William Butler, who said that education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire, and urged investigators to not rest on their laurels but continuously seek ways to improve their skills, light the fire to further learning, and familiarize themselves with existing laws, because a thorough understanding will help them manage the complexities of the investigation more effectively.

In addition, awards and commendations were presented to the graduates including top three in the class, leadership, and service awards, highest comprehensive exam rating results, and best output station deployment.

From 2011 until now PRO-7 has produced 3,201 CIC graduates. (CEBU NEWS)
