Yogi Ruiz takes oath under Marcos’ Partido Federal
CEBU, Philippines — Former Customs Commissioner Yogi Felimon Ruiz took his oath as the regional chairman of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s political party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
The national PFP president, former Catanduanes Governor Leandro Verceles Jr. led the induction of Ruiz into the party.
Verceles, in a press conference, said that he was impressed with Ruiz’s background and he found that he was qualified to be their party’s mayoral bet in Cebu City.
Ruiz said his visions for Cebu City agree with the party’s ideology and political positions, which has a dream of nurturing a society that is free of illegal drugs, corruption, crime, insurgency and poverty.
“Ang ako gud nga gipangita nga Partido kanang pareha pud nakog panglanlantaw nga sibo sa akong kampanya batok sa illegal drugs, crime free ug corruption free. Ako natan-aw sa PFP nga nisibo gyud sa akong tinguha nga himoon nga the best of the best and kahimtang sa siyudad sa Sugbo para sa akong kaigsuonan,” said Ruiz, who was also a former regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7.
Ruiz took his oath before Verceles together with other new members in region-7 as a confirmation of his application submitted to the national PFP office in Manila.
Meanwhile, Ruiz did not disclose yet his line up, saying he is still in the process of evaluating credentials and backgrounds of the potential members of his slate since he wants his team to have the best qualifications.
Asked what would happen to his local political party—Partido Cebuano, now that he is already an official officer of the PFP party, he clarified that he will definitely file as candidate with the certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) from PFP since Partido Cebuano has yet to be registered with Comelec.
Ruiz is aspiring to be the next mayor of Cebu City in the upcoming midterm elections in 2025, assuring Cebuanos of his decisiveness in running for the said position. (CEBU NEWS)
