Drug suspect escapes on way to court hearing
CEBU, Philippines — A 41-year-old person under police custody (PUPC) escaped from his police escorts on their way to attend a court hearing in Danao City Tuesday morning, April 2, 2014.
Rodel Maningo Nudalo, who is facing a criminal case for illegal drugs, made a dash for freedom while they were having breakfast at a carenderia in Danao City at around 7:50 A.M.
Nudalo allegedly asked permission from his escorts to get a toothpick but suddenly ran towards a narrow alley. His freedom, however, was short-lived as he was immediately arrested during a manhunt operation.
Police Captain Leovil Singson, chief of police of Tudela Municipal Police Station, said they were able to recapture Nudalo through the help of his live-in partner. Singson said they asked Nudalo’s live-in partner to arrange a meet-up with the escapee. During the meeting Nudalo was arrested.
Nudalo was a native of Sitio Pamatasan, Barangay Northern Poblacion, San Francisco, Cebu. He was arrested for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. – /FPL (FREEMAN)
