San Francisco gets P32.3 million projects

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — After Pilar town, the Cebu provincial government inaugurated P32.3 million worth of different infrastructure projects in San Francisco town, also on Camotes island.

The amount is for three different projects, with the bulk of it going to the road concreting and improvement project.

In particular, the Capitol shelled out P16.26 million to fully concretize and improve a 760-meter section of Teguis-San Francisco Road.

This road section, as per Sugbo News, the provincial government s official news network, is located in the town center and is a major thoroughfare that connects San Francisco town to the rest of Camotes Islands.

Governor Gwen Garcia led the inauguration of the newly completed road project, along with San Francisco Mayor Al Arquillano, Poro Mayor Gary Rama, Board Members Red Duterte and Stanley Caminero, and other local officials.

Aside from that road, two new projects of one-barrel concrete box culverts costing P12.13 million were also inaugurated.

A box culvert is a kind of concrete structure commonly used to channel water, primarily as part of a drainage system.

The remaining P4-million of the total budget went to the renovation of public toilets in San Francisco, particularly in the municipal gymnasium, public market, Baywalk, and by Lake Danao.

The public toilets were improved to provide a better public toilet experience for locals and visitors alike, especially that San Francisco is home to a few of the most visited tourist spots in Camotes. (CEBU NEWS)
