Ex-convict shot dead in Duljo-Fatima

CEBU, Philippines — A man who was just released from jail was killed after he was shot by a masked gunman in Sitio Punyang, Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, at 3:45 p.m. on February 1, 2024.

The victim was identified as Gee Ronan Vernal Oralde, also known as “Jordan,” 29, a resident of Sitio Puntod, Mambaling, Cebu City.

Oralde was reportedly sleeping on a wooden bench beside a billiard table when a lone gunman wearing a facemask suddenly appeared in the area and shot the victim.

Responding officers tried to bring the him to the nearest hospital, but he was declared dead at 4:10 p.m. by ambulance personnel.

Based on police records, Oralde was arrested for different cases and went in and out of jail.

At 22, Oralde was arrested for theft, and he was also arrested for illegal drugs when he was 25 years old. He was released but was again arrested two years later allegedly for rape.

Oralde’s mother has also reportedly told the police that her son fled home after stealing from her and her daughter.

Meanwhile, after the shooting, the suspect immediately fled the area. Authorities are still conducting a follow up investigation to identify the shooter and his whereabouts. (CEBU NEWS)
