DOH-7 makes progress in info system for UHC
CEBU, Philippines — Department of Health Central Office Supply Chain Management Systems together with the United States Agency for International Development Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (USAID-MTAPS) has showcased the remarkable progress and roadmaps of the eLMIS (Electronic Logistics Management Information System) during the 3-day monitoring activity at the DOH-Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CVCHD).
Recognized as a crucial information system for Universal Health Coverage (UHC), as outlined in the approved version of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) (Sec. 36.1 and 36.2), eLMIS was successfully deployed to DOH-CVCHD warehouses in February 2023.
Subsequently, the department conducted a series of capacity-building initiatives and rollout preparations, effectively training all health workers of the local government units.
According to DOH-CVCHD, the monitoring report presented focused on evaluating the implementation status of eLMIS in warehouses and service delivery points.
It highlighted best practices, areas for improvement, and recommendations for change management to enhance eLMIS implementation and scale-up.
The report covered various aspects monitored in categories such as Governance (Leadership & Policies, Budget for eLMIS implementation), People (Roles & Responsibilities of staff, Number of Staff), Process (WOM compliance, eLMIS Process compliance - Receiving, Allocation, Issuance, Reports/Forms), and Technology (Information Technology Infrastructure, Information and Communication Technology Development Plan, Data Management).
During the event, the delegates, along with the DOH-CVCHD Assistant Regional Director Sophia M. Mancao, engaged in discussions on the eLMIS implementation strengths, recommendations, and areas for improvement.
“The active exchange of ideas and insights emphasized the commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the eLMIS for the benefit of healthcare delivery in the Central Visayas Region,” it said. — (FREEMAN)
