PROBE clears illegal structures at NRA

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City Prevention Restoration Order and Beautification Enhancement (PROBE) officer-in-charge Aderson Comar has reported a “mission accomplished” in its clearing operations of illegal structures along Block 27-B at the North Reclamation Area.

The retired fire marshal told The Freeman that there were some illegal settlers, a store and a carenderia that have been doing business in the government lot along the Cebu City Quarantine Center for some time.

Interestingly, there is a concrete structure that was able to be constructed under the government-owned lot.

With instructions from Mayor Michael Rama to clear all illegal occupants in the area, PROBE conducted a clearing operation and was finally done in two days from October 17 to 18 even with only a handful of manpower and without heavy tools and equipment to make their jobs lighter and faster.

PROBE is hoping that the area will be strictly monitored already so that no illegal structures will be built again in the area.

As clearing operations at Block 27-B ended, the PROBE personnel shifted focus to other areas including the repainting of the railings of the San Roque Bridge in Tinago.

The repainting was done after the clearing of the portion of the Estero de Parian from all the garbage and made it safe for the locals to pass through the said area.

Another team of PROBE was also deployed in Barangay Calamba to clear some more structures. (CEBU NEWS)
