DepEd rolls out national storybook writing tilt

CEBU, Philippines —  The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Learning Resources, has announced the conduct of the Gawad Teodora Alonso (GTA) 2O23.

This is the fifth edition of the program formerly called the National Competition on Storybook Writing. The GTA 2O23 aims to appreciate the role of stories and illustrated storybooks as tools in the development of reading and of learning curricular content standards.

Aside from that, it is expected to harvest original stories that demonstrate learning competencies of the K to 10 Matatag Curriculum.

Through this contest, the skills and talents of classroom teachers, non-teaching personnel, education leaders, and learners in the production of storybooks for basic education will be discovered or enhanced further.

The output of this contest accordingly, will also contribute to the treasury of content materials for utilization as reading resources and transformation to engaging media.
