CEBU, Philippines — Danao City, Cebu has inched closer to its dream of becoming an information technology (IT) hub with the graduation of its 100 pioneering students under its IT-Business Process management Scholarship program.
Of the 100 graduates, 75 took the Contact Center Services NCII course while the 25 finished the Events Management Services NCIII program.
In a statement, the Danao City Government said the graduation marks the "initial phase of Danao City's evolution into a key player in the IT-BPM industry".
“Anticipate additional batches of graduates from various accredited courses in the months ahead,” it said.
Mayor Mix Durano, Vice Mayor Nito Durano, who were among those present during the graduation rites, congratulated the graduates.
Also, IT-BPM companies will gather in Danao City for an "Investment Forum and Jobs Fair" on Sept. 22, providing several job opportunities for residents of Danao and the rest of the Cebuanos.
Last month, the City Government also turned over 11 school buildings worth ?20.8 million to the Department of Education-Danao City Division. (CEBU NEWS)
