Fish vendor caught in buy-bust operation

CEBU, Philippines — A 36-year-old fish vendor was arrested during a buy-bust operation Sunday night along F. Sotto Drive, Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City.

The police identified the suspect as Vic Esra Caburnay, 36 years old, resident of Barangay Busay in this city.

According to Police Captain Mark Don Leanza, chief of Abellana Police Station 2, Caburnay is a high-value individual in the illegal drug business.

However, before the buy-bust operation was conducted, the police monitored the suspect for a week.

Recovered from the suspect were 60 grams of shabu worth about half a million pesos.

The suspect admitted being involved in illegal drugs for a long time.

“Hindi natin yan makukuhaan ng ganyang kalaki kung bago lang, 60 grams almost half a million pesos worth of drugs masasabi talaga natin matagal na niyang gawain to,” said Leanza.

According to Leanza, Caburnay's name also appeared from among those caught in their previous operations.

“Usually kasi ganito ang nangyayari mga nako-custodial de briefing namin and then nagdi-divulge din sila kung saan galing yung supply nila and then kina-conduct din natin yung ng operation para ma-sustain natin yung mga drug operation natin dito sa area ng Abellana Police Station,” said Leanza.

ACCOMPLISHMENT

Meanwhile, from June 9 to 15, the Cebu City Police Office conducted 36 anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the arrest of 38 drug personalities and the confiscation of 503.89 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million.

In anti-illegal gambling, they conducted 62 operations in the same period and 88 people were arrested and P6,000 in bet money was seized.

They also conducted 11 operations against loose firearms and eight were arrested and the police also confiscated eight firearms.

Meanwhile, during the arrest of the wanted persons, the CCPO arrested one most wanted person and 19 other wanted persons.
