CCSC closed for renovations

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  After only a year since the reopening of the Cebu City Sports Center, it had been closed again, this time for renovations.

The sudden closing of the sports facility saddens many athletes, especially those preparing for the Palarong Pambansa and other events.

CCSC was also preparing for their summer clinics with the hope of raising income to make up for their losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aside from their operational expenses, workers under CCSC are getting worried again for their jobs as they may be on a "no work, no pay" scheme again.

Renovations of the 29 year old sports center is yet to start and many are hoping it will be done by phase so that some areas will still be utilized for training and jobs for the workers will continue.

CCSC manager Jovito Taborada refused to make any comments concerning the latest development and just said to refer matters to the City Hall.

The Freeman learned that another meeting is set to take place next week with Mayor Michael Rama concerning the renovation works.

Cebu City is bidding for next year's Palarong Pambansa and the city government wants to make a total makeover of the facility. (Cebu News)
