CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government is eyeing the cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu to be included in the trail of one the Suroy Suroy Sugbo tourism caravan this year.
During the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting, Maria Lester Ybañez, the provincial tourism officer, reported the next leg of the provincial tourism caravan for 2023 would include the highly urbanized cities.
The Suroy Suroy Sugbo had the Northern Escapade last January which was participated by around 800 guests exploring the towns of Consolacion, Compostela, Carmen, Tabogon, Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Santa Fe, Madridejos, Bantayan, Borbon, Sogod, Catmon, Liloan, and the City of Bogo.
This month, the program had the Enchanting Camotes which covered the towns of San Francisco, Tudela, Poro and Pilar in the Camotes Group of Islands.
Ybañez said there will be Suroy Suroy Sugbo in the Midwest towns covering the towns of Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Balamban, Tuburan, Asturias and Tabuelan and the city of Toledo.
By September, the caravan will be exploring the highly urbanized cities.
Ybañez said the Suroy Suroy Sugbo Urban Adventure was first experienced by the participants during the first terms of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, which covers the City of Mandaue and Cordova.
“And this time, we will embrace Lapu-Lapu City and Cebu city,” Ybañez said.
By November, the tourism caravan will be in the Southern towns just like last year or the Southern Heritage Trail.
The Suroy Suroy Sugbo is a tourism flagship program of the Cebu provincial government under Garcia’s administration providing opportunities and avenues for the towns and cities in the province to showcase their culture, tradition, tourism attractions including its food and delicacies to the participants of the caravan.
