CEBU, Philippines —  The Sugbo Bike Lanes Board is gearing up for the bike registration and bikers’ licensing in Cebu City.

Sugbo Bike Lanes Board’s Executive Director Bernard Maraasin told The FREEMAN that they are now preparing for the registration of bikers as well as their bikes.

“Gamay na lang kulang. Amo ra unya ni i-announce,” said Maraasin.

An online app is currently being worked on, but Maraasin said they may opt for manual registration if the software will not be done soon.

“Actually, nadugay man ang software nga akong gipahimo. But aron masugdan namo, mag manual na lang mi,” said Maraasin.

Maraasin, however, said he will still take this matter on manual registration to the rest of the SBLB for approval.

The bike registration is for the biker’s own safety, at the same time those violators of the rules and regulations concerning active transport will easily get apprehended and meted with penalties.

For the bikes, it will also be easier to identify bikes when confiscated or stolen.

At the moment, Cebu bike lanes patrollers are currently busy with its mass information dissemination campaign regarding the importance of registering their bikes and obtaining a license as well as the proper use of the bike lanes and other traffic rules. – GAN (FREEMAN)
