‘Shot for a Cause’ aims to collect pet bottles in Carbon area

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  After the training on proper food handling, Carbon Market vendors and the entire community are expected to maintain cleanliness at the same time recycle and repurpose especially pet bottles via “Shot for a Cause.”

“Limpyo nga Carbon, magsugod kanato” is a project that will be launched this Saturday at Carbon Market’s Night Market area.

The Freeman learned that there will be 10 specially designed trash bins that will be turned over during the ceremony.

This Saturday’s event had been dubbed as “Shot for a Cause” as the trash bins are designed like basketball rings accordingly that will be placed within the Carbon District.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros, known as the Cebuano hotshot in basketball, are expected to showcase their wares to shoot around the new trash bins.

The bins are specifically for pet bottles with the United Continental Eagles Club collecting them when filled up.

Proceeds from the pet bottles collected will be used to make more trash bins for the same purpose that will be distributed to other organizations/places.

Pet bottle had been given special attention as it is one of the causes of flooding here as it clogs up canals and drainage together with the other plastic pollutants.

The project is initiated by the United Continental Eagles Club, in partnership with the Cebu2World-Megawide, with the support of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Station 5 and the Cebu City government. — GMR (FREEMAN)
