UCMed has enough nurses, boasts of advanced facilities
CEBU, Philippines — The chairman of the University of Cebu Medical Center, Inc. (UCMed) has assured the public they are not turning away any patient who seeks treatment and medical care, as the hospital has enough nurses.
In a press conference, lawyer Augusto Go, UCMed chairman, said that the hospital has no shortage of nurses as they expect more patients would be coming for treatment, as COVID-19 is nearly over.
The UC Group operates three nursing schools that graduate an average of a thousand students a year.
Currently, these nursing schools have a total of 2,996 students from first year to fourth year. More than 300 nursing students are expected to graduate this May.
Go added that their nursing course has a “study now, pay later” program wherein graduates are asked to work at UCMed for two years so that the students can repay their tuition fee including payment for their board exams without any interest.
“So, UCMed has a steady supply of nurses,” said Go, adding a nursing student’s tuition fee costs at least P40,000 per semester.
Aside from having enough supply of nurses, Go said they also have additional hospital rooms and have acquired several state-of-the-art hospital equipment.
UCMed is a world class medical facility that provides quality, affordable, efficient, and person-centered healthcare.
Among their newly acquired equipment includes the Spinal Decompression (a non-invasive alternative to spine surgery); High Intensity Laser and Robotic Scanning (the most gentle and effective pain management for patients); TR-Therapy (treatment for chronic back pain, muscle spasms and myofascial syndrome); and Shockwave Therapy (treatment for calcific tendonitis, tendonitis and muscle spasm/knot).
UCMed also has a Somatom X.ceed CT Scan, a first in Southeast Asia, wherein heavier or obese patients can fit into and the speed in capture images is super-fast.
For those who want to undergo Mammogram, UCMed has the latest Mammomat Revelation that has a 50-degree wide angle HD Breast Tomosynthesis, HD breast biopsy and comfort in breast screening.
They also have a Purevue Visualization System which is designed for minimally invasive endoscopic surgery.
Other than these newly acquired equipment, UCMed has a heart center, cardiac rehabilitation center, hematology-oncology unit, dialysis center, rehabilitation and sports medicine center, women’s health center, executive health and wellness center, Radiology and Ultrasound Units, Skin and Wellness Center, Pulmonary Unit, Diabetes and Nutrition Center as well as Maternity Package.
UCMed also has an Overseas Workers and Seafarers Center, which is the only hospital accredited by the Department of Health, Maritime Industry Authority and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration to conduct pre-employment medical examinations for land-based overseas workers, local and international seafarers and maritime cadets.
UCMed also does have a relaxing garden and outdoor jogging track which is the only hospital to have it which helps promote healing and faster recovery of their patients.
Go added UCMed has an ongoing construction of a six-level parking that can accommodate 125 cars at a time to accommodate more patients. —/GAN (FREEMAN)
