‘City Hall at Your Doorstep’ set in Lusaran

Mary Ruth R. Malinao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The next stop of the Cebu City government’s “City Hall at Your Doorstep” will be in Barangay Lusaran.

The program aims to bring its basic services to the different barangays, especially those in far-flung areas.

It will be conducted regularly every Friday in different barangays until the month of November.

Among the services that will be offered are medical and dental consultations, random blood sugar testing, and other health-related services; consultation on birth, marriage, and death certificates; urban poor-related issues; legal services; residence certificate issuance; and several others.

“Hain ang layo, ang City Hall ang magpaduol. So mao nang nia mi karon diri, ang tanang mga services nga pwede nato madala diri atong dalhon,” said City Administrator Suzanne Ardosa at the first stop of “City Hall at Your Doorstep” in Barangay Sudlon I last Friday.

“Nia diri ang nagkalain-laing nga departments. Inyo man tingali makita gikan sa health, naa pa diri sa DVMF (Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries), naa sab diri ang street lighting pagtan-aw, naa pud diri ang taga engineering unsay gikinahanglan buhaton so nia tanan diri nagkahiusa ang tanang department, kani lang ang pirmero niya matag Biyernes na gyud ni nato buhaton,” she added.

Ardosa said that “City Hall at Your Doorstep” has been Mayor Michael Rama’s program ever since, where City Hall services will be brought to the city’s 80 barangays.

With this program, the mayor hopes to bring the services of the 27 departments of the city government closer to the people and for them to avail of the services for free.

It was discontinued before, and now they are bringing it back again as it is part of Rama’s plans for his first 100 days.

Barangay Affairs Office (BAO) head Ian Hassamal explained that they prioritized the barangays that are far from the City Hall to bring the services closer to the people.

“Naa tay mga tarpaulin nga ibitay in every barangay hall one week before sa program, then ang atong mga officials atong gisultihan nga anang adlawa, anang petsaha, anang orasa moabot mi dinha sa inyong barangay alang sa paghatag og pagserbisyo sa City Hall at Your Doorstep sa inyong barangay,” said Hassamal.

Sudlon I barangay captain Dante Tabucal has expressed that he is grateful that his barangay was the first stop of the Cebu City Hall for the return of “City Hall at Your Doorstep” program.

Tabucal said that the program is a big help to those living in the mountain barangays to avail of the basic services offered by the city government.

“Hinaot nga ang kining programa nga gihatag sa atong Mayor nga ato gyud mapuslan ug atong mapalapdan ang serbisyo nga gikinahanglan sa mga tawo. Kay ang serbisyo maoy gikinahanglan nga yangungo sa mga tawo nga ilang gipangayo nga mao say pangandoy sa atong Mayor,” said Tabucal. — GMR (FREEMAN)
