CREMDEC finalizes developmentt plans for barangays

CEBU, Philippines —  After having delayed due to the calamity and the election ban, development plans for the city’s 80 barangays are now being finalized by the Cebu City Resource Management and Development Center (CREMDEC).

Allan Bautista, CREMDEC administrative officer, said their activities have been delayed because of the calamities that hit the city and the prohibitions during the election period.

Bautista said that if the barangay elections will push through this December, they will cover all the 80 barangays for their desired barangay development plan (BDP) to give a comprehensive plan for the development of each barangay.

BDP is a three-year comprehensive multi-sectoral development plan that is formulated through an inclusive and participatory approach led by its development council and approved by its Sanggunian.

It is an official document of the barangay that specifies policy options, programs, projects and activities intended to contribute towards the achievement of the barangay’s developmental goals and objectives.

Bautista said they have already started with Barangays Cogon Pardo, Ermita, Kalubihan, Kinasang-an, Pamutan, San Roque, Sambag I, Sudlon I, Tagbao, and Tinago.

He said their direction will depend on the order of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Meanwhile, CREMDEC is also planning to widen at least 47 roads that could also be farm-to-market roads, which requires an estimated funding of P1.2 billion. These include a road from Barangay Kalunasan to Barangay Adlaon.

Bautista said Deeds of Sale are already ready for some lots that will be affected by the construction of the project. Another is the water pipeline project worth P1.5 million for farm irrigation in the mountainous part of the city.

There is also a planned dam in Barangay Cambinocot with a budget of P1.4 billion to provide adequate water supply in 31 barangays in the city.

As coordinated by CREMDEC, the Visayan Electric Company will also conduct a free power line in the mountain areas from Adlaon through Guba to Agsungot.

Bautista said it would really help the residents who are currently relying on solar lights. — FPL (FREEMAN)
