CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Sports Center will soon be back to serving its primary purpose–sports--after the city government intends to end the vaccination operations at the said facility.
The CCSC has already been open to the public for fitness and other activities a few months after the city was hit by Typhoon Odette, but the multi-purpose gym has been utilized still as a vaccination site mainly for the pediatric population.
“The whole sports center should already be open, especially for sports,” said Rama in yesterday’s press conference.
Rama also said that he is set to call on for a convergence of all stakeholders to discuss the city’s vaccination campaign status after most of the regular sites were seen to have fewer vaccines these days.
The City’s Health Department, on the other hand, said it is ready to administer additional booster shots but is just waiting for the go signal from the Department of Health.
“Niingon to si Dr. Vergeire (Maria Rosario, DOH spokesperson) nga hopefully this week or next week ang ako sad nadunggan una sa sila mobakuna sa Manila, sa NCR dayon sa atua,” said CHD officer-in-charge Dr. Jeffrey Ibones.
So far, there are already close to 200,000 individuals boosted in Cebu City against Covid-19.
In the meantime, the city’s vaccination team returns with its in-school vaccination, together with the Department of Education-Cebu City Division, ahead of the scheduled limited face-to-face classes here. — Decemay P. Padilla, JMD (FREEMAN)
