Capitol breaks ground for P12 million road project
CEBU, Philippines — A P12-million road concreting project broke ground Wednesday in Barangay Triumfo, Carmen, Cebu to the delight of the residents in the area.
Regee Ann Puebla, a public school teacher and resident of Barangay Cogon East, said she will be among the many residents who will benefit the project. As soon as the project is done, it would be easier for Puebla to travel to report to S. Duterte Elementary School in Barangay Triumfo.
According to her, the road improvement will cut short her travel time traversing a bumpy and unpaved road.
“Nindot kaayo ni karon og masemento na, moabot na lang 15 minutes ang byahe padung sa eskwelahan. Karon man gud mga 30 minutes ang byahe unya lisod kaayo labi na mag-uwan kay batoon man siya. Kasuway mi natumba among motor,” Puebla was quoted in a Sugbo News report.
The 820-meter road, which will be 6.1-meter wide and nine-inch thick, is set to be completed in less than three months. It will connect to Triumfo barangay road which the Capitol has also allocated P11.2 million for improvement.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the groundbreaking ceremony last Wednesday, March 10. She committed to improve more roads following the standard measurement.
The Capitol also announced that a P31.5-million budget has been earmarked to improve the three-kilometer Upper Natimao-an to Caurasan barangay road. — FPL (FREEMAN)
