P46.4 million Lapu-Lapu road,drainage projects kick off

CEBU, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative PazRadaza recently led the groundbreaking ceremony of the P46.4 million Basak-Cagudoy-Bankal-Buaya Road project under the Cebu 6th Engineering District of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

The neophyte congresswoman personally lobbied this project to DPWH to provide more convenient roads for the commuting public and at the same time solve the flooding problem in the barangays of Buaya, Bankal, Pajac and Basak.

Radaza said the implementation of this project was delayed due to issues on availability of funds and priority of projects amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

She is hoping that the implementation of the project be expedited by the contractor and that no delays may be encountered as the project is expected to be completed on June 6, 2021.

“Maghinaut ko nga kini balosan usab sa contractor pinaagi sa paspas nga pagtrabaho ani nga project,” Radaza said in a statement.

Radaza said that flooding problems cannot be solved overnight and expressed thanks to DPWH-7 officials in the implementation of the project.

Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were Cebu 6th District Engineer Suzette Nwanaka, Lapu-Lapu City Association of Barangay Councils president Eduardo Cuizon, Pajac Barangay Captain Johanna Pangatungan and other government officials and personnel.

The former three-term city mayor said that now that she is a congresswoman, she prioritizes the drainage construction most especially in areas prone to flooding.

She added that when she was then the city mayor, 90 percent of the city roads have been concreted and cemented and was able to build covered courts in all the 30 barangays.

The former three-term city mayor recently visited the ongoing construction of the multi-purpose building projects in Barangay San Vicente in Olango Island and in Barangay Agus.

These multi-purpose buildings, Radaza said, will serve as a haven for emergency and barangay activities in the long run. — GMR (FREEMAN)
