PCL-Cebu officers quitto honor term-sharing

Gregg M. Rubio - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — All officers and staff of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu Provincial Federation have tendered their resignation to honor a term-sharing agreement.

PCL Cebu Chapter president and Tabogon Councilor Francis Edward Salimbangon submitted their resignation letter dated November 11, 2020 to PCL national chairman Danny Dayanghirang, PCL national president Jose Nelson Sala and Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

“I was raised by a great man. Importante jud kaayo ang honor and dignity especially sa Salimbangon family,” he said.

Salimbangon stated in his letter that the resignation also applies to all the current officers and Board of Directors of the entire PCL Cebu Province Chapter, including the whole team, party, members, employees and staff.

“We are a honorable team, dili ta gusto mapareha ni Cayetano,” he said referring to the term sharing controversy in the House speakership.

Salimbangon, who sits as ex-officio member of the Cebu Provincial Board, said his term will end on November 30, 2020 yet, thus he calls for a special election on December 1 to formalize the takeover of the group of Sibonga Councilor Caroline Bacaltos.

He is requesting for the assistance of PCL National for the conduct of the election and has appointed Councilor Reinerio Miranda Jr., one of the outgoing members of the

Board of Directors of PCL Cebu Chapter, to be part of the election committee.

With the remaining days, Salimbangon said the PCL Cebu Chapter is distributing rice, masks and face shields to different local government units in the province.

“I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish despite of being in the position for only 15 months, especially in the hardest time during the pandemic,” he said.

Salimbangon assured of the full support of his team to the new set of officers. — FPL (FREEMAN)
