84 stranded in Danao port leave for Camotes

CEBU, Philippines —  Around 84 stranded passengers in Danao City port were able to leave for Camotes Island after the Coast Guard

Station allowed trips to resume early morning yesterday.

Rolan Reyes, head of Danao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office confirmed that passengers left around 5:30 a.m. yesterday.

Stranded passengers stayed at the temporary shelter offered by the CDRRMO.

They were also provided with food packs from the Bayanihan Cooking which is comprised of the local government staff with special cooking skills who are also responsible for preparing daily meals for frontliners and those who are Covid-19 patients at the isolation center.

"Ni-offer mi og area duol ra pud sa City Central School, so ang uban gusto mopahuway adto sila didto then at the same time, nag-provide mi og pagkaon," said Reyes.

The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Danao has suspended the trips bound for Camotes Island later in the afternoon on Saturday due to a low pressure area.

Last November 1, there were also 46 individuals stranded in the port following suspension of trips due to Typhoon Rolly and were able to leave the following day. –  GMR (FREEMAN)
