CEBU, Philippines —  Over P500 million worth of road projects were inaugurated and broken ground by officials of the Cebu provincial government in the seventh district.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the ground breaking of the four-kilometer Sangi-Duyan road in Alegria town worth P55 million. The project is the continuation of the road section that was inaugurated at the area on the same day last September 28.

The Capitol officials also did a ground breaking of the P55-million road project in Lambug-Banhigan that will complete the Lambug-Bato-Banhigan road in Badian which would eventually give easy access to tourists on the way to the white beach of Barangay Lambug.

Another road project that will start construction is the Poblacion-Bugho road section in Moalboal which costs P39 million.

In the news release of the Cebu Capitol, Garcia said the Cebu Province is following the standard measures of the roads, which is 6.1 meters wide and nine inches thick.

In Santander town, the Capitol officials also inaugurated the 6.2-kilometer road in Barangay Looc, Bunlan, and Talisay.

Santander Mayor Marites Buscato said the farm-to-market road project can benefit not only farmers but also tourists and fisherfolks.

“Sayon na pud moadto sa dagat atong mga mananagat kay mag-motor na baya sila padulong didto. Dali na makagamit sa karsada ang atong mga responder nga magdala sa mga ambulansya. Dili lang kini farm-to-market road kay ini’g ka wala na sa pandemya magpanon na unya ang mga turista sa Inadlay Peak,” Buscato said in a report of Sugbo News, the Capitol-ran news outlet.

The newly opened road is a project of the Philippine Road Development Program (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture. The Capitol also shouldered 10 percent of the project cost which was about P68 million. — GAN (FREEMAN)
