Barangay chief offers free ride to mourners

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The chief of Barangay San Nicolas Proper in Cebu City will provide free transportation arrangements for funeral-goers amid the public health crisis.

With limited public transportation due to the coronavirus pandemic, Barangay Captain Clifford Jude Niñal offered his own 40-seater tourist bus for burial purposes.

Barangay residents and non-residents alike can avail of the free ride, he added.

Two families have already benefited from the free ride so far.

Niñal said non-residents can request for the use of the bus. But they need to pay for its fuel and the driver.

“Pwede ra maski dili taga San Nicolas makagamit ani basta dili lang in conflict sa taga diri nga mogamit.Ang atong tuyo ani na makatabang ta karon sa uban nga nanginahanglan, “ he said.

The barangay is also planning to service the frontliners and other commuters if someone else will shoulder the fuel expenses. — KQD (FREEMAN)
