Wire eradication team restarts clean-up work

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City government’s Spaghetti Wires Eradication Program,  which would clear tangled, dead, and drop wires, was officially relaunched yesterday.

Guardo, chairman of the Technical Infrastructure Committee, said almost 60 percent of the wires in the city’s roads are identified to be dead wires.

This means these wires are no longer active and are no longer functional.

“Tangtangon na sila unya ato na silang limpyohan, ato dayong i-bundled,” said Guardo.

At least 10 teams from different telecommunication and utility companies have participated in the program.

These groups will be the one to conduct the clearing of wires operations.

Aside from that, part of the cleansing program, duna sad tay Parks and Playgrounds gauna.

This program is citywide and is going to be a daily activity.

The first area undergoing the clearing is Urgello Street.

The clearing in a particular area is estimated to be completed in one week.

“If mahuman sa particular nga barangay, molayat nasad ta sa laing barangay,” said Guardo.

Guardo said no money from the city will be used in this project.

“Ang ato lang we wanted to instill participation, cooperation sa mga telcos kay this is part of their service,” he said. — GAN (FREEMAN)
