Caindec warns drivers: Windshield signs illegal

CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO)-7 has reminded vehicle owners and drivers that placing of unofficial or unauthorized passage signages, stickers and certificates on windshields and/or other parts of the motor vehicle is stricly prohibited as part of the re-instated Enhanced Community Quarantine guidelines.

LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Caindec had directed vehicle owners and drivers to remove unofficial or unauthorized signages, stickers and certificates from their vehicles.

“Vehicle owners and drivers are asked to use only officially authorized vehicle passes, signages and certificates based on pertinent regulations, and local ordinances,” said Caindec in the Facebook page of LTO-7.

Caindec said that the guiding principle of implementing ECQ is to minimize social interaction and movement except for those of essential necessities.

“Thus, only officially authorized vehicles with legitimate purposes should ply the streets,” Caindec said.

He added that placement of unauthorized stickers, or signages bearing “Do Not Delay” and others on the front and rear windshields which affects visibility of the driver, regardless of the condition of the vehicle, is not allowed and is a violation under the Joint Administrative Order 2014-01 of the Department of Transportation.

LTO-7 has already started monitoring the streets for unofficial or unauthorized signages and, in addition, to observance of transportation laws and regulations.

“We gave fair warning. Last week pa ni gi-announce. Karon nga ECQ sa Cebu City, you do not need to put these signs on your windshields. Just present your IDs if you’re an APOR (Authorized Person Outside Residence).  Ang uban, sa kadaghan ug gi-post sa windshield, maglibog na ta ug sakyanan pa ba or bulletin board sa barangay,” Caindec added.  GAN (FREEMAN)
