5 Barangay Luz patients recover from COVID-19

CEBU, Philippines —  Five COVID-19 positive patients from SitioZapatera, Barrio Luz, Cebu City who were admitted at the Cebu City Medical Center were discharged yesterday.

The patients were brought to the hospital two weeks ago.

Before their release yesterday, the patients were tested twice and the results came out negative.

The barangay’s spokesperson, EldebrianArañez, told The FREEMAN that they were among the first batch of positive cases who were admitted at CCMC when the barangay isolation center (BIC) was still being prepared.

Arañez said that these patients are now transferred in the transition area of the BIC, since it is not yet advisable for them to return to their homes at SitioZapatera, Barangay Luz.

“Kadto for the meantime wala pay isolation center sa among lugar. Mao ng batch nga nag-negative nakaron. Dili pa advisable nadidtosilasaSitioZapateraisulodbalikkay, again, the area is still considered as contaminated area sa COVID, so anggibuhatnamo, didtogihaponsilasaeskwelahan mag-quarantine napudsila for another 14 days,” said Arañez.

Arañez said the five patients are senior citizens.

He said that they will be housed at the transition area in the school, which is separated from the currently isolated patients.

Yesterday was the ninth day of isolation for the 75 positive patients at the BIC in Barangay Luz. Arañez said that by May 4 or 5, a re-swab test will be done for these patients.

“As per discussion namosa Department of Health andCity Health, naa may i-conduct na re-swab aning first batch gi-deploy sa school from SitioZapatera. If they test negative, that’s the time they will be transferred in the transition area for further treatment,” said Arañez.

Headded that the patients are following a daily routine initiated by one of the patients who is a school principal.

“Atongmga patients, they are doing well. Actually, naasila everyday routine, part anikayang mag-exercise. And last Sunday naay mass didtokanang online langgyud para naaymisasasulod,” said Arañez.

He said that on the evening of April 29, they will be transferring patients from Cabantan.

“Karonggabiinaa mi ipamalhingikandirisaCabantan, i-adtosasulodperodilinamoisagolsaunang batch sa isolation kaymo-retroact ilang days kanus-a silanagsugod. So, para magpadayonilang days, atosilasa high school building,” said Arañez.

Four of the 15 sitios in Barangay Luz - SitiosZapatera, Sto Niño 1, Lubi, and San Vicente – have positive cases and are currently under total lockdown.

“For the whole Barangay Luz, modified rasiyana lockdown. It doesn’t mean na total lockdown. However, samganaay cases nasitios, considered na as total lockdown, di gyudsilakagawas,” said Arañez.

He also thanked those who gave donations to Barangay Luz.

“Magpasalamat mi samgagipaabotnatabanglabinasa among barangay, kamisab dinhinaningkamotnamapadayonangmaayonabalitakaronna nag-negative gikansa among barangay. We are hoping nakaningmga positive pa diri, moabotpudang time nasilanapudang ma COVID-free,” said Arañez .GAN (FREEMAN)
