CEBU, Philippines — A Zumba for a Cause will take centerstage at Ayala Center-Cebu as the ICanServe Foundation Cebu celebrates Women’s Month in order to raise awareness on early breast cancer detection and raise funds to finance free mammograms to indigent women referred to the foundation.
The Zumba in Pink (ZIP) will take place on March 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ayala Terraces and is expected to draw a crowd of 500 or more.
Registration fee is P350, inclusive of a ZIP singlet, mineral water, freebies and a chance to win in the raffle.
Special awards will be given to outstanding zumba enthusiasts.
ICanServe believes that this is a good start to encourage more Cebuanos to be healthy, fit and at the same time contribute to a good cause.
ICanServe is an advocacy group of breast cancer survivors empowering themselves of information about breast cancer and what they can do about it.
It advocates early detection of breast cancer.
Ron Bernabe, member of ICanServe executive committee, said that this is their first event for Women’s Month and hopes that Zumba enthusiasts will join.
They are hoping that this event will be successful, so that this will become their annual event.
ICanServe’s mission is to arm women with breast care health and breast cancer information so they can make informed decisions about their health.
It also provides access to special services that will help breast cancer survivors recover and heal more effectively.
The group said breast cancer is the most treatable form of cancer, if detected early.
