CEBU, Philippines — Two high-value drug suspects were nabbed by the police in two separate operations that also yielded an estimated P10 million worth of suspected shabu on Tuesday night and Wednesday dawn.
The Tuesday buy-bust operation resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Romjol Omambac Diaz, who is on the high-value target list of the authorities.
An estimated P7,514,000 worth of suspected shabu weighing more than one kilo was confiscated from Diaz, who was arrested at Sitio Lower San Roque, Brgy. Calamba in Cebu City.
Cebu City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit head Pol. Col. Frankie Lugo said in an interview that they believe Diaz is part of a major drug group that operates in Cebu and other neighboring provinces.
“Minamanmanan na natin ‘to (Diaz) for about almost a month na, and luckily, nahuli natin, kasi may’ grupo to, ‘dun sa Kalunasan,” Lugo added.
Meanwhile, the second buy-bust operation resulted in the arrest of another high-value target in the person of Elmer Segara Apor, who resides at Sitio Riverside, Brgy. Duljo Fatima in Cebu City.
The police confiscated 315 grams of suspected shabu, estimated to be worth P2,142,000 from Apor, who told the police he was originally from Mindanao and works as a habal-habal driver.
Pol. Capt. Francis Renz Talosig told reporters that Apor dispenses the illegal drugs in his neighboring barangays, and is allegedly able to sell at least 50 grams per week. JMD (FREEMAN)
