JICA to build septage facility in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines — A septage facility will be developed in the Cebu via a grant from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Governor Gwen Garcia disclosed to reporters last week.

Garcia said that she has met with JICA officials and that a grant has been provided by the agency for the construction of a septage facility in the province.

“There is a grant from JICA a sludge or septage plant in a property situated in Cebu City,” Garcia said.

However, the property where the septage plant will be built on has been subject to a land swap between the Province of Cebu and the City of Cebu.

The lot, formerly owned by the City of Cebu, has been transferred to the provincial government as per deed of exchange.

“This property is subject of a previous deed of exchange or lot swap between the Province of Cebu and the City of Cebu,” Garcia said.

Although a review on the lot swap will still be discussed by the province and the city, Garcia assured that whatever the result may be, the plant will be built.

“Should the ownership of that property revert to the City of Cebu then I believe that the project will still continue,” she said.

Both local government units are still set to meet to discuss the parameters and the effectivity of the swap. (FREEMAN)
