CCPO, CCTO ready for “Kalag-Kalag”

Alicia Chua - The Freeman

Cebu, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) presented to the City Council their plans in preparation for the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

The CCPO had started preparing days before the observance of the “Kalag-Kalag” by meetings with stakeholders. Station commanders had also done ocular inspections to know where to deploy their personnel.

“We will deploy personnel (in) the twenty-three cemeteries; composed of 15 public, 8 private, and 5 of which are major cemeteries. We will also post our resources in the three terminals – the South Bus Terminal, Librando Bus Terminal and GT Express Terminal,” said Deputy City Director Melbert Esguerra.

The authorities will also deploy personnel at the Busay Flower Farm and at the Freedom Park.

The police will also provide maximum security coverage, route safety marshals and assistance hub to ensure the safety of the public.

Meanwhile, the CCTO issued a traffic rerouting plan for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day from October 30 to November 2, 2019.

Road diversions will be implemented and designated parking areas will be assigned in the cemeteries.

The CCTO advised motorists, drivers, and other road-users to follow the traffic signs to minimize the traffic congestion for the upcoming “Kalag-kalag.” GAN ( FREEMAN)
