CEBU, Philippines — A 28-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a ten-wheeler truck along the Cebu City South Coastal Road yesterday morning.

The victim was identified as Marvin Bulilan, 28, who hails from Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City. He was on his way to work when the incident happened.

The driver of the truck was identified as Domingo Avinido Baay, 39, of Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.

According to Police Master Sergeant Filomeno Viquezo, traffic investigator of Cebu City Police Office, the 10-wheeler truck stopped at the outer lane of the coastal road after a bolt holding its cargo got damaged.

The truck was loaded with cement bags and was on its way to the Cebu City port area to ship the cement bags to Mindanao.

There was an early warning device installed a few meters from the truck but Bulilan apparently did not notice it.  He hit the warning device and crashed into the truck.

Baay is temporarily detained in Mambaling police stockade pending filing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

However, the police will release Baay after 72 hours if Bulilan’s family will not file a case against him. — MBG (FREEMAN)
