Using P3.5M Pagcor funds Calamba to get mini fire truck

CEBU, Philippines — The executive department of the Cebu City Government is now authorized to charge P3.5 million against the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) funds for the procurement of one unit of mini fire truck to be donated to Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

The City Council approved the resolution of Councilor David Tumulak, chairman on public order and safety on the said matter, last Tuesday during the regular session.

Tumulak’s resolution is in response to the request of the barangay asking the  city to give them one unit of mini fire truck.

The barangay council passed a resolution stating the need to have their own mini fire truck so that they can immediately respond to fire incidents in their area.

In the resolution, all the barangay councilors have affixed their signatures which was attested by Calamba Barangay Captain Victor Quijano.

Before Tumulak presented his resolution to the legislative body, the request was first sent  to the Office of the Mayor.

"WHEREAS, such request has been approved by the City Mayor, as evidenced by the attached Barangay Resolution duly signed by the latter," Tumulak’s resolution read.

The City Council did not hesitate to approve the resolution since it is a basic necessity of the barangay considering that it is intended for responding fire incidents.

The City's Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) will set a schedule for the public bidding as soon as they receive the purchase request. (FREEMAN)
