12T biz firms renew ESAP

CEBU, Philippines — At least 12,000 business establishments were able to renew their Environment Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP) permits at the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) this year.

CCENRO started accepting renewal applications from January 4 to January 25, 2019.

Securing ESAP is among the requirements laid by the city government for the renewal of business permits every year.

This is pursuant to City Ordinance No. 2243 mandating establishments to submit ESAP.

ESAP contains environmental plan of every establishment such as soil conservation, vegetation program, anti-smoking, gray water treatment, coastal cleanup, waste segregation, composting, plastic regulation and others.

CCENRO head Nida Cabrera told reporters yesterday that with the new policy they are implementing, they will approve the applications on the day of the processing.

This was upon the directive of Mayor Tomas Osmeña not to delay the releasing of necessary documents for the renewal of business permits.

But she said CCENRO’s team will conduct inspection in all establishments with renewed ESAP permits just to ensure that they followed what is in their action plan. (FREEMAN)
