CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Traffic Patrol Group assured it has enough cops to cover the whole city, despite the recent relief of nine cops.

Police Senior Inspector Dexter Basirgo said that they will be maximizing the available cops they have while they wait for the additional cops which will be deployed by CCPO Director Royina Garma.

“Sa pagkakaron sa akong pag-assume as new chief of TOG, wala man ta ka-encoutner og problema, atoa lang gi-maximize ang personnel nga available sa opisina,” he said.

Garma previously told reporters nine traffic police investigators were relieved for negligence at work when it took more than an hour for them to arrive at a scene of a vehicular crash.

She said that she personally called the Cebu City Traffic Patrol Group (TPG) but it took an hour and still, no investigator.

She added that she also heard that investigators would not go out of their office to investigate.

Instead it was the personnel of the Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO) that led the sketching and initial investigation.

The nine cops were asked to report to the Cebu Mobile Force Company (CMFC), wherein their main duties are to patrol the hinterlands of Cebu City.

"Relieve and reassign.  Ayaw lumabas kaya ilagay sa bundok para maarawan, para maranasan paano magtrabaho sa labas ng opisina.  Dapat na nakapatrolya sa bundok," Garma had said.

Police Regional Office-7 Director Debold Sinas also supported Garma’s discretion and lauded her for the prompt corrective measure on the traffic cops.

Basirgo also agreed with Garma’s directive and said that in every accident investigators will immediately be in the area of the crash to investigate.

“Atong personnel mogawas na gyud na, while CCTO in every accident, ila trabaho is to assist the flow of traffic especially naa incident, to man the traffic nga dili mubara,” he said. — GAN (FREEMAN)
