To prevent crimes Police launch “Clean Rider”

CEBU, Philippines — Motorcycle riders from different cities and municipalities gathered in Naga City for the launching of the Philippine National Police (PNP) simultaneous campaign plan “Clean Rider” at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Cebu Provincial Police Office director Senior Supt. Manuel Abrugena extended his gratitude to the motorcycle riders who actively participated in the launching.

Clean Rider campaign plan is a nationwide event of the Philippine National Police (PNP) because of the rising number of killings and other crimes involving motorcycles as a getaway vehicle of the assailants.

“Ang mga motorsiklo ang nagiging isa sa mga kasangkapan in committing crimes,” he said.

Police officials will be giving Clean Rider stickers as an indication that the motorist and his motorcycle are registered with the PNP.

The campaign’s objective is to help ensure the safety, peace and security of the motorcycle riders all over the country and to segregate the law-abiding motorists from the criminals.

The PNP is hoping that this campaign might help eradicate crimes.

The Clean Rider sticker is free of charge and in order for them to avail of the stickers, motorists must bring the necessary requirements like the certificate of registration, driver’s license, and a valid government ID. Motorists should present the requirements to their nearest police station.

 “Kapag kayo po ay nabigyan na ng mga stickers. Kapag nakita ng mga kapolisan na may stickers kayo, sa halip na tatlong minuto, limang minuto, seconds na lang at makakalagpas kayo sa mga established check point operations,” he said.

CCPO has already distributed 175 stickers to motorists. The campaign was also launched in other cities and provinces. — Irene L. Gardose, USJ-R Intern/MBG (FREEMAN)
