CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will concentrate on barangays with high crime rates in implementing the anti-loitering directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde.

Superintendent Ryan Devaras, chief of Investigation and Detective Management Branch, said that CCPO Director Joel Doria has directed station commanders to concentrate on barangays that yielded more illegal drugs and have cases of petty crimes in the implementation of Oplan Tambay.

“Focus ta sa mga barangays nga naa daghan drug problems, naa criminality such as robbery, snatching,” he said.

However, he refused to name the barangays out of courtesy.

Devaras said the public should understand that loitering in the streets exposes them to danger.

“Kasagaran mabiktima or suspect katong naa sa gawas. So para ra sad ni sa community nga mahilayo sila sa krimen or mahimo silang victim sa sige tambay mapusilan or madamay,” he said.

Devaras also said that they will be conducting information dissemination before they will round up those who will be caught loitering.

They will be brought to the barangay hall for profiling. They will also be asked why they are in the streets.

“Ang instructions ni City Director mao ang profiling sa mga individual. They will be brought sa barangay hall dili sa station. To check nag-unsa and if taga didto,” he said.

Devaras said the Oplan Tambay will help in the anti-criminality efforts of CCPO as they can also check those with pending arrest warrants.

He said they will implement Oplan Tambay 24 hours. — MBG (FREEMAN)
