Jealousy ends in 2 deaths

CEBU, Philippines — A 42-year-old woman was hacked to death by her lover, who also killed himself after committing the crime, inside their residence at Valeriano Compound, Barangay Labogon, Mandaue City yesterday morning.

Analiza Lacno suffered wounds on her belly and at the back of her body after Danilo Lacno, 41, hacked her with a bolo.

Police Officer 2 Janus Capangpangan of Jagobiao Police Station said jealousy pushed Danilo to attack Analiza.

Investigation revealed Danilo noticed that for the past days, Analiza stays in their house during daytime but allegedly goes to another man's house in the evening.

Danilo has been in a relationship with Analiza for five months already. But Analiza reportedly has another lover, a jeepney driver, who lives in Sitio Kanhumay of the same barangay.

Analiza was also the former wife of Danilo’s brother, Ronel, but they separated eight years ago.

Capangpangan added that Danilo got jealous when he learned of Analiza’s affair and warned her not to go back to her lover's house.

But Analiza did not heed Danilo's warning which led to a heated argument.

Danilo got very angry, took a bolo and hacked her several times.

After he killed Analiza, Danilo stabbed himself, hitting his belly using the same bolo that he used to kill his partner.

Recovered from the crime scene was the bolo used in the crime.

Police and emergency responders from Accident Control Emergency Team- Mandaue (ACERT) sent Danilo to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but he died before reaching the hospital. —/MBG (FREEMAN)
