CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas has approved the request of the city's chief of police to purchase additional vehicles for Talisay City Police Station, pending budget appropriation.
Police Superintendent Jason Villamater, chief of Talisay City police, requested two patrol cars and one unmarked car that will be used in everyday police operations.
Gullas said he instructed the city's Budget Officer Edgar Mabunay to prioritize the appropriation of budget for the police vehicles.
"Ang instruction nako is to find ways and means to do it now, even if we have to pass a supplemental budget," he said.
The city eyes to purchase the additional vehicles within this year.
At present, Talisay City police only have two patrol cars. According to Villamater, they experience difficulties responding to alarms because of the lack of vehicles.
He said that the two vehicles are no longer new.
"Most of the time they need repairs because of wear and tear due to it being used 24/7 for police operations," he added. Villamater said he is very thankful to Gullas for endorsing their request.
"Talisay Police Station really needs additional/new vehicles to sustain police operations. Very much honored and appreciated Mayor Gullas prioritizing the request," he said. —/JBB (FREEMAN)
