CEBU, Philippines - A 44-year-old tourist police officer and three others were injured when a motorcycle bumped into a tricycle along the national highway of Barangay Poblacion, Alcantara in southern Cebu Saturday evening.

Police Officer 3 Benjamin Bate of the tourist police in Moalboal town suffered minor injuries after he fell from the tricycle he was riding due to the impact.

The tricycle driver Kenneth Lumapay, 20, a resident of Alcantara, motorcycle driver Jovani Faviliar and his companion Aldrin Mendiola, both 19 years old and from Dumanjug town, were also hurt during the accident.

All four of them were brought to the town’s Rural Health Unit and are now recuperating.

Based on the initial investigation, Police said Faviliar and Mendiola were on their way home to Dumanjug, trailing behind Lumapay’s tricycle.

The tricycle, however, suddenly shifted direction, turning left to an intersection.

Faviliar did not see it coming and hit the left side of the tricycle, causing the driver and his passengers to also slump into the pavement.

The Alcantara Police Station took custody of the vehicles for proper disposition.

Police are further investigating the incident to determine who will be held liable for it. (FREEMAN)
