Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A cargo vessel carrying 1,000 tons of sands capsized at the seawaters off Malabuyoc, Cebu yesterday.

Dionelitt Ampil, Cebu Coast Guard district commander, said yesterday that LCT Marc Jason III came from Tandayag Port in Negros Oriental and was on its way to Sta. Fe town in in Bantayan Island, Cebu when the incident happened.

"We are still waiting for the marine protest to be filed by the ship captain to know the reason why it (vessel) capsized," he said.

Ampil said that that as of last night representatives of Jomalia Shipping Lines, which owned the vessel, were still in Malabuyoc. He said the vessel has 18 crew and all were safe.  (FREEMAN)
