CEBU, Philippines - A 63-year-old man, who was planting in his farm, was hacked by his neighbor in Sitio Bangko-bangko, Barangay Sandayong, Tuburan Wednesday morning.

Investigation revealed that while the victim, Anecito Gabilan, was planting corn seeds in his farm, his neighbor Rolando Cartalaba, 54, arrived.

Suddenly, with no apparent reason, Cartalaba allegedly drew out his bolo and hacked the victim.

Gabilan sustained wounds to his abdomen and left arm. He was rushed to the Tuburan District Hospital and has already been treated for his injuries.

Cartalaba was arrested by responding Tuburan police. They were able to recover the bolo used by the suspect in hacking the victim.

Police said they are eyeing personal grudge as the motive of the hacking.

Cartalaba is now detained pending the filing of the complaint of frustrated murder against him before the prosecutor’s office. (FREEMAN)
