Cops told to be cautious: Jaguar left P5M for those who can avenge his death

CEBU, Philippines - Police Regional Office-7 Director Chief Superintendent Patrocinio Comendador Jr. is urging the police in the region to be vigilant after receiving information that prior to his death, Jeffery Otom Diaz alias Jaguar left a P5 million as reward for anyone in his group who can avenge in the event he is killed.

Commendador said the amount has been left to a drug lord in Muntinlupa.

 "Before namatay si Jaguar nagbilin si Jaguar ug P5 million sa makapatay niya gihatag ni'g usa ka drug lord sa Muntinlupa, iyang ganti," Comendador said.

He added that the information is "very reliable" coming from the "inside" but it is not yet clear if the information came from Muntinlupa or within Jaguar's organization.

With this, the police are now preparing in the event that people will start taking actions and attack the police.

Comendador said they do not know yet who the target is, whether it is the team who killed Jaguar or the whole PRO-7, but said that things like these are not to be considered as a threat, but a normal life risk of being in law enforcement.

"Gipangandaman nila at the same way nangandam sad ta. Sa amoa dili man na threat normal nga risgo sa kinabuhi, dili mahadlok, dili ma-discourage ang kapulisan o dili labaw ni magpaisog sa kanila," he said.

The latest intelligence report, Comendador said, it did not reveal if a successor has been chosen among Jaguar's men who apparently are in a state of chaos, adding it will take time for them to regroup and reorganize.

"Sa pagkakaron wala pa, sa among nahibaw-an nag-ilog lagi. Naa na siyay (Jaguar) mga supporter kung patay na ang leader dili pa dayon ka-regroup… naa siguroy mga pundok-pundok pero dili pa ingon nga solid," he said.

Although Jaguar has been laid to rest, the police are not stopping their work on recovering properties owned by the slain drug lord from the drug trade.

In fact, Superintendent Rex Derilo, Regional Intelligence Division-7 chief, met yesterday with the Anti-Money Laundering Council for the possible forfeiture of Jaguar's properties that allegedly came from the illegal drug business.

 "Ang chief RID-nag-coordinate na with AMLC so they can take the first steps of the process, atong giapil ang dakong druglords that they amassed big money, real estate business establishments ang uban identified nato ang uban gi-identify," Comendador said.

"Ang atong kapulisan didtoy tropa sa Mindanao, Metro Manila area, Ilo-Ilo nangita sa properties ni Jaguar," he added.

As of their latest monitoring, he said there are several drug personalities now starting to leave the region with one of them fleeing to Macau while others trying to sell their properties to third parties. — (FREEMAN)
