“Drunk” driver dies, another hurt in Talisay motorcycle accident

CEBU, Philippines - A man died while his companion was injured after the motorcycle he was driving figured in an accident in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City on Saturday dawn.

Duncan Alonzo was allegedly drunk when he and his backrider Kristin James Bacalso, 19, met the accident at around 1:30 a.m.

Investigation revealed that Alonzo, a resident of Urgello St. in Cebu City, was driving a black Honda motorcycle on his way to Barangay Dumlog with Bacalso when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Alonzo was allegedly under the influence of liquor when he was driving the motorcycle.

Police Officer 3 Aquiles Cabando of Talisay City Police Station said Alonzo was thrown into a concrete electric post while Bacalso fell into the pavement.

Both victims who sustained injuries were brought to Talisay City District Hospital.

 However, the attending physician, Dr. Gulamo Khiabar Angsa, declared Alonzo dead on arrival. Bacalso, a resident of Barangay Cansojong, is now reportedly recuperating. (FREEMAN)
