Next PB to inherit 30 cases

Romiel Franz C. Gallego - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The next Provincial Board of Cebu is inheriting at least 30 administrative complaints now pending before the Committee on Complaints and Investigation.

Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, who was given a fresh mandate during the May 9 elections, said she had already started meeting with the incoming members of the 14th Provincial Board to discuss the distribution of committees.

Magpale said among the issues they discussed during the meeting last Monday was the pending complaints. She said the committee on complaints and investigation must be given to a lawyer. However, only one lawyer was elected to the board in the last elections.

Magpale admitted that she is inclined to give the committee to PB member-elect Raul Bacaltos.

"Usa ray abogado namo ron," she said. "Ang uban kay engineers and I was having a problem sa pag-distribute sa committees because we have one committee nga naay 30 ka pending cases filed with us," the vice governor added.

Magpale said they have only resolved five cases out of the more than 30 filed before them since 2013.

Magpale assured Bacaltos that he will be given two consultants and two lawyers to assist him in resolving the complaints. She refused to give further details as to the other standing committees.

"I can't really tell kay I want everyone to be around when we finally distribute the members," she said.

Magpale said they have also discussed the preparations for the inaugural session on July 4 and the farewell party for outgoing PB Members Julian Daan, Raul "Yayoy" Alcoseba, Cristopher Baricuatro, Peter John Calderon, Grecilda Sanchez-Zaballero, Joven Mondigo, Arleigh Jay Sitoy, and the late Thadeo "Teddy" Ouano. — (FREEMAN)
