Teacher flees cabbie

CEBU, Philippines - A 33-year-old teacher asked assistance from the Carbon Police Station after she felt drowsy and weak after her cab driver allegedly sprayed something inside the vehicle yesterday afternoon.

The teacher, who requested anonymity, said she took a cab from Borromeo Street, Cebu City, and asked the driver to take her to her school.

She said she first noticed the driver did not have an ID card displayed. He also always tilted his neck as if he was uneasy. She also described him as around 40 to 50 years old, tall with a slight build and having a tattoo in one hand.

She added when she tried to start a conversation with him, he would not even respond to her.

After about a minute in the cab, the teacher said she noticed she was becoming weak. She also said she noticed the driver spray something in the vehicle.

The teacher said she tried her best not to lose her focus and tried to open the automatic window. However, she said the driver would also close it remotely each time she tried.

As they were caught in traffic near a mall the teacher said she opened the window, waved her hands outside and shouted for help. Three students heeded her call and helped her get out of the vehicle.

The taxi driver immediately drove off, but the teacher was able to get the plate number of the taxi which she said was GXT 130. Security cameras of a nearby establishment also revealed the vehicle’s body number was 1850.

The teacher said they are now planning to ask help from the Land Transportation Office to trace the operator of the taxi cab and who was driving it at the time.  — (FREEMAN)
