If elected: Digong to end drug woes in six months

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte vowed to end drug problems in three to six months if he gets elected president in the May elections.

Duterte, who has a reputation of being a crime buster, said it is going to be “bloody” for the criminals but assured that “extra-judicial killings” will not happen in his administration.

“Kaning criminality, kaning druga tapuson ko ni in three months to six months. Buhaton ko gyud ni. Kana maoy kaya nako,” he said during the official launching in Cebu of his platform of government.

Duterte warned those into illegal drugs to stop their illegal activities.

“Kamong mga druglords undang na mo because you have produced a fractured generation. Ang shabu six months to one year inig kuyos sa utok wala nay rehabilitation. Shabu shrinks the brain,” Duterte told a throng of his supporters who gathered at the Plaza Independencia for a forum.

“I will be very frank with you before the public. It will be bloody three to six months. It will be bloody. Daghan gyung mamatay ana but there will be no extra-judicial killings. Kay hatagan tika og baril. Ayaw na lang panabla na lang kay ihawon ta gyud ka,” the feisty mayor added.

Duterte asked for understanding from his supporters for his cursing in front of the public explaining that every bad word that comes out of his mouth reflects the real sufferings experienced by the Filipino people.

During his over an hour speech, Duterte made countless remarks using bad words but the crowd cheered him even more. He pleaded to his supporters to also vote for his running mate, Senator Alan peter Cayetano.

“Og di mo moboto niya ayaw na lang mo og boto nako,” said Duterte.

He admitted that his administration will be “left” leaning and he has a socialist principle.

Duterte said he will push for an end in the insurgency problem with communist rebel having direct contacts with the NPA-NDF leaders like Jose Maria “Joma” Sison.

He said he is against contractualization of laborers and will push for reforms in the income tax law which will cover more exemptions such as those earning below P20,000 a month.  The Davao City chief executive also said that he will not declare martial law unlike the “doomsday” scenario hoisted by his opponents.   (FREEMAN)
