PB gives P41 million to LGUs
CEBU, Philippines - The Provincial Board (PB) has approved at least 15 resolutions allocating a total of P41 million to fund various projects of local government units in the province.
The amount was sourced from the province’s 20 percent development fund for this year, particularly the share for the legislative body.
Liga ng mga Barangay President and Board Member Celestino Martinez III got the lion’s share of the fund with P28 million, which will be utilized for road construction, repair and rehabilitation of barangay roads in the towns of Barili (P4 million), Sogod (P2 million), Consolacion (P15 million), and Poro in Camotes (P2 million).
He also sponsored resolution setting aside P1.3 million for the purchase of generator sets for Naga City and Barangay Gilutungan in Cordova, and the renovation of the evacuation center in Barangay Tubod in Barili.
Barangay Lamac in Consolacion will get P250,000 for the construction of a sports complex.
Financial aid worth P30,000 was also given to Barangay Gawi, Oslob for the construction of Malabago water reservoir.
For his part, Board Member Peter John Calderon sponsored three resolutions for various infrastructure projects to be implemented in the municipalities of Argao, Sibonga and Moalboal.
He has set aside P3 million as financial assistance to the Municipality of Sibonga for the concreting of their sports complex, and P1 million to the Municipality of Moalboal for the purchase of water tank and construction and rehabilitation of various projects. Another P205, 000 was also given to to Barangay Bulasa, Argao for the purchase of a mini-ambulance.
An assistance of P70,000 for the purchase of three handheld radios was endorsed by Board Members Christopher Baricuatro and Thadeo Ouano for Barangay Calangcalang in Badian and Poblacion Oriental in Consolacion.
The Board also approved the resolution of Board Member Alex Binghay allocating P4.9 million for various local governments as funds for agriculture-related projects.
Board Member Sun Shimura also sponsored resolutions allocating P2.5 million for the construction of a new building for Cebu Technological University in Tabogon; maintenance of street lighting worth P30,000 for Barangay Poblacion in San Remigio; and P50,000 for Barangay Sambag in Tabogon.
For Board Member Grecilda Sanchez, at least P150,000 financial assistance was given for road rehabilitation from Sitio Bugasok to Sitio Curos-curos Transcentral Highway in Duangan, Balamban.
Vice Governor Agnes Magpale also set aside funds in the amount of P349,000 to the different LGUs as aid “for urgent implementation of various projects”, the information office reported.
Further, the Board realigned P50,000 to rehabilitate the barangay health center in Sulangan, Bantayan Island. (FREEMAN)
